I’ve just transitioned to cloth (yay!)… only wearing the Bumwear and Kushies for now as they were lent to me to try and I don’t really have the budget right now to buy a variety of others that I’d like to try (ie. Bumgenius, FB, G’s, etc… there are so many!). I don’t like the Kushies as they are soo bulky with the wrap, cloth diaper and liner… the Bumwear is better, not as bulky.. but for my 17lbs 3 month old… still kind of bulky. Needless to say, I’m learning that cloth diapering is helplessly bulkier than disposables… but I’m determined to make cloth diapering work for us. So I just wanted to know what cloth diapers work for the chubby babies out there. Thx!
Thanks for the answers so far! Any good Canadian sites out there that sell good fitted cloth diapers?
Baby Isabelle wears bumgenius cloth diapers. Many of the experienced parents we spoke with before Isabelle arrived laughed at the thought of using cloth diapers. Cloth diapers were thought of as a nice thing to save the planet but WAY too much work. Not true in our experience. We actually found using bumgenius cloth diapers to be not much more difficult than buying then bringing thousands of disposable diapers out to the trash can every week. We wouldn’t do it any other way.
For more must-see Cloth diapers used to mean a plethora of extra tasks — pins, laundy, diaper covers… bumgenius makes cloth diapering as easy as using disposables, and the only thing you send to the landfill is, well, waste. Just ordered a Sampler from Nicki’s. bumGenius, BumWear, Happy Heiny’s and Mother’s Touch are in it. What are your experiences with these diapers? Should I try Haute Pockets Breathable One Size Diapers, Wonderoos One Size Pocket Diapers, Blueberry One Size Deluxe Pocket Diapers or Wahmies One Size Pocket Diapers? What are the best inserts and detergents to use? Can anyone explain how to use inserts (for overnite vs. day) and what I’d want to use? Is 18-24 diapers plenty for wash every other day? How many should I have? Teach me, ladies! )
